Hansi Flick Appointed as Germany Manager for World Cup 2022

Berlin, Germany - March 8, 2023

World Cup-winning coach Hansi Flick has been officially appointed as the new manager of the German national football team, tasked with leading the squad in this year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The German Football Association (DFB) announced the decision on Wednesday, bringing to an end months of speculation surrounding Flick's potential appointment. The 57-year-old coach has signed a four-year contract, extending his tenure until after the 2024 European Championship.

Flick, who previously led Bayern Munich to numerous domestic and international titles, including the UEFA Champions League in 2020, is hailed as one of the most successful German coaches in recent years. He is known for his attacking style of play and ability to get the best out of his players.

With the World Cup just over eight months away, Flick will have a short period to assess his squad and implement his tactics before the tournament begins. Germany has been drawn into Group E, alongside Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan, and will be aiming to improve on their disappointing performance at the 2018 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
